Did you know...?

Mouth Guards

Mouth Guards

Did you know that following an injury, the teeth are often unable to repair fully.  We would recommend preventing any injuries occuring in the first place by using a mouth guard.

Wearing a mouth guard when playing contact sports such as Rugby or Football can lower the risk of damage to the teeth, jaw bone and gums during an accident on the field.

A mouth guard is a specially made, rubber-like cover which fits over your teeth and gums, cushioning them and protecting them from damage. We take impressions of your teeth to create a custom guard that exactly fits your teeth and mouth, therefore providing better protection than a standard ‘boil and bite’ mouth guard.

Mouth guards are available for children and adults in a variety of types and thicknesses. The dentist will recommend which type is best for you depending on your sport. You can even choose the colour!

Professional Swimmers

Professional Swimmers

Did you know that frequent swimming can cause yellowing of the teeth? Competitive swimmers or those who swim more than six hours a week, are exposing their teeth to large amounts of chemically treated water. According to the Academy of General Dentistry, pool water can cause proteins in the saliva to quickly break down and form organic deposits, mainly on the front teeth, known as ‘swimmer’s calculus’.
