In celebration of its first year of operation, Deepdale Dental Centre will be officially opened by Preston MP Mr Mark Hendrick at a grand opening ceremony on Friday 1 July.
The centre opened its doors as part of NHS Central Lancashire’s commitment to provider better access to NHS dentistry in Preston. When it first opened, the primary care trust was referring 300 patients a week and the centre now has 20,000 registered patients.
The centre was formed from the merger of two smaller local NHS dental practices and with some additional funding from NHS Central Lancashire was relocated into empty premises at the highly successful ISSA Medical Centre in St Gregory Road, Deepdale.
The practice was designed, built and kitted out with five dental surgeries on budget in just nine weeks and saw its first patients on time. On the day the new practice opened, it already had 3,000 new patients on its waiting list!
The practice is fully Disability Discrimination Act compliant with all surgeries situated on the ground floor and equipped with the latest practice management software system, digital radiography and central sterilisation and decontamination facilities as well as a dedicated patient car park. The practice staff speak a range of languages, including Gujarati, Urdu, Farsi, Punjabi as well as Spanish, Portuguese and Greek.
The practice has a clinical staff of seven dentists as well as 14 qualified nurses and support staff.
The practice also offers a full range of dental services including teeth whitening, non-metallic white fillings and smile restoration services illustrated on the practice’s website www.smartdentalcare.co.uk
